Message from the Representative

First of all, Japan and India are connected in terms of Buddhism. Buddhism, which originated in India, was introduced to Japan in the 6th century and had a great influence on Japanese culture, philosophy, and religion. Even in this day and age, many Buddhist statues and buildings remain in Japan, and history shows that the influence of Buddhism has been very significant.
In 1952, after the war, the Treaty of Peace between the Government of India and Japan was concluded, accelerating the friendly relations between the two countries. Mutual understanding has been deepened and cooperation has been strengthened in a wide range of areas, including politics, economics, and culture.
The treaty also includes a mutual assistance clause, which states that both countries will cooperate with each other to improve their standing in the international community, and has played an important role in strengthening the friendly relationship between Japan and India.
Subsequently, in 2007, Japan and India declared the "Japan-India Year of Exchange.
Japan and India have become leading powers in Asia and had close interactions in economic, culture, and history. They have also built their friendly relationshis by deepening a bilateral understanding, and have put forth effort into promoting peace and stability in Asia.
Currently, Japan and India have deepend the cooperative relarionship in the field of economic, national security, and culture, and the bilateral friendship has been accelerated.
We will make every effort to continue further peace and friendship between our two countries.
